FRAMEWORK FOR CPG SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING
For the longest time, securing that Blue Checkmark was a goal for social media managers around the world. Until Meta started charging you for it. For a while there, the Blue Checkmark felt meaningless. Like buying your kid into a prestigious university, but everyone knew, so it didn’t actually mean anything. Until! They added SEO benefits at the lowest price tier. That’s when we all started to ask: is being meta verified worth it?
The biggest pro, in my opinion, and the one that got me to finally become Meta verified myself was the SEO benefits. According to Meta, verified accounts will receive priority over non-verified accounts. So if a CPG founder is searching for “CPG social media strategist” I’ll come up before a non-verified account.
The same goes for you: if a consumer is searching for high-protein hummus, your verified account will show up before your non-verified competitor.
Another big benefit is enhanced customer support. If you’ve ever dealt with Meta, you’ll know they’re notorious for terrible customer support. I have had to speak to them for issues with my own account, even after verification, and it wasn’t a good experience. I’ve been lucky enough to never deal with issues on my client accounts, but I imagine it’s the same.
For businesses, this is more important than customer support. Every social media manager’s worst nightmare is getting hacked, losing account access, and never being able to get it back. That’s why I make all my social media marketing clients set up two-factor authentication for everything.
If you’re Meta Verified, your brand will be more protected with “proactive impersonation monitoring” and Meta will remove accounts they determine are pretending to be you. I think this is incredibly valuable as you grow your business on socials.
Aside from search optimization, if you choose the Plus, Premium, or Max plans, you’ll gain access to the Featured Profile benefit and you can add links in your Instagram reels, both of which will help get your account in front of new people.
All of the Meta Verified plans support adding images to the links in your bio (see what I mean here). While it’s not going to make or break your conversion rate, I like the added branding opportunity.
You can also get access to exclusive stickers for stories and reels. Again, it’s not going to make or break your content performance, but it’s a fun little add-on.
The only con that I can think of is the cost. While the cheapest option (the one I use for my own account) is $14.99 per month, there’s options up to $499 per month. It’s up to you to determine what fits into your budget and if being Meta Verified is worth it for your business. Check out all the Meta Verified plans here.
In my opinion, yes. You’ll maximize discovery on Instagram & Facebook with search optimization and protect your brand with impersonation protection & enhanced customer support.
